Objectives

Before beginning the project the shopping mall appeared obsolete and no longer in line with the canons of fashion and functionality that are commonly looked for in a similar structure. The commercial section, perhaps more than others, is directly affected in economic terms by a dated architectural image, which results in reduction of a customer’s purchasing desire.

Objective of the commission was therefore to update the image of the shopping mall by a plan focused on requalification of the area, breathing new life into the businesses present in the mall and bringing it in line with industry standards.

Description

The approach of the project focused on conferring a new image to the structure, not only externally but also internally, in such a way that the desired result would be completed in the minimum amount of time possible, thus allowing businesses to reopen.

The restyling of the external facades resulted in covering them with titanium panels, whose chromaticism characterizes the entire building. Thanks to the support of the underlying structure in steel, the surface appears organic, even alive, reflecting the flurry of activity inside.

The vibrant shape of the shell, together with the strategic use of steel confer a strong scenic appearance to the structure. The external shell, in certain parts joins the pavement seamlessly, therefore hiding the underlying frame; in other parts, it rises, as if blown by the wind, revealing the glass windows underneath.

Results

Upon completion of the project the entire area appeared transformed, becoming a catalyst for the businesses present in the building, from small shops to large retail stores. The steel shell greatly improved visibility, by rendering identification of the mall simple even from the various adjacent motorways.

Not only did the structure in itself enjoy an improvement of its aesthetic appearance but also single stores reaped the benefits. In fact, the usage of modern materials for the internal areas contributed to providing an image capable of revitalizing the shopping mall, the objective presented by the client.
